We shall promote Texas State's positive image and serve as the liaison between students, administration, and alumni. Stephen Gates
Born in Shreveport, Louisiana, Stephen had lived in Schertz, Texas for eight years prior to arriving at Texas State. He graduated Salutatorian in his class at Samuel Clemens High School in May of 2007 and became a Bobcat in the fall of that year. He will graduate this May before matriculating into the University of Texas Health Science Center School of Medicine in San Antonio this fall. Stephen continues to be interested in orthopedics and sports medicine, citing these as sources for his desire to become a physician.
Stephen is a fourth-year Student Foundation member. He served as the Committee Chair for Bobcat Pause for two years, and currently serves as the Student Foundation President. During his college career, he has been involved in the Pre-Med Society, Medical Explorers, and the Honors Student Association (President, 2009-2010), in addition to volunteering with Boy Scount Troop 112, Big Brother Big Sister, and San Marcos' Junior NBA. In his free time, Stephen enjoys playing golf, watching movies, playing intramural sports, spending time with his girlfriend, friends and family, and playing guitar.
